The City of Lights by bike: A Paris cycling guide

Huck x Levi's® — Art director and photographer Caroline Pauleau pedals with us on a personal tour of Paris. Here, in the latest post from 'Lines Through The City' – a collection of skateboarding and cycling stories produced by Huck in collaboration with Levi's® Commuter™ – Caroline reveals that the best way to explore the City of Lights is by bike.

Art director and photographer Caroline (Caro) Pauleau has lived in Paris for almost 11 years and started cycling about six years ago. She quickly developed an obsession with bikes and the culture around them and started her blog caropaulette.com to document the fascinating people she was encountering in the capital.

She estimates the bike community in Paris has grown in the past few years with a “second breath of fixed-gear” and a new “urban way of life.” There are races, group rides, and get-togethers – like Paris Chill Racing, Paris Bike Polo, La Petite Course – organised frequently.

“I’ve met so many good people and some of them are very close friends now,” reflects Caro. “I’ve traveled so much with most of them all around the world and I’ve discovered how nice and interesting it is to hang out in a city by bike. Go everywhere you wanna go, when you want, by yourself or with your friends. To me, it’s the best freedom that you can have in the urban jungle.”

These are the highlights of Caro’s Paris. (click on the map to enlarge)
