Pure havoc: photos of London amid the Euro 2020 final

Agony and ecstasy — Yesterday, as England competed against Italy in the hope of becoming the Euro 2020 champion, football fans descended into central London to mark the occasion. Photographer Aiyush Pachnanda was on hand to capture the action.

It was a gut-wrenching and emotional night. After a promising start to the game which saw Luke Shaw open the scoring with a superb goal in the second minute, celebrations erupted across the country. But it was a match that ultimately ended in heartbreak, with Italy crowned the new European champion after equalising in the second half and ultimately winning on penalties.

On Sunday (11 July), England fans flooded into central London and Wembley Stadium to soak up the atmosphere and party on the streets. The queues outside of London pubs were colossal, with some punters showing up as early as 6am to try and bag a spot to watch the historic game. Elsewhere, chaos unfolded as fans fought with stewards and police in an attempt to break through the gates into Wembley Stadium.
