What Does It Look Like To 'Skate Like A Girl'?

Aim: In light of the Always campaign 'Like A Girl' and the Sport England campaign #ThisGirlCan, we set off to question the stereotype of girl skaters. What does it look like to 'skate like a girl'? We headed to BaySixty6 'Girls Night' on a Friday to interrupt the session and ask questions. Breaking stereotypes and setting the record straight, these girls tell us what it means to skate like a girl…and show that is can be done! #LikeAGirl #ThisGirlCan @NeonStash Who: Filmed and edited by Shade Media Production by Neon Stash Idea by Shade Media and Neon Stash

Squash Your Stereotypes — Girls shred pretty gnarly. Get to know!

Inspired by the #LikeAGirl campaign, the Neon Stash crew headed down to a Friday night girls’ session at London’s BaySixty6 to smash some stereotypes and shatter preconceived notions of girls in skateboarding.

“Girl skaters are a variety of people who get on boards, for different reasons, with varying ability and experience,” explains Hannah Bailey. “It’s no different to guys really, except that there are fewer numbers. It’s not about being a girl, but being a skater. The confusion when I ask the question ‘what does a girl skater look like?’ says it all really.”

So, what does it mean to ‘skate like a girl’? Now you know.

Support the campaign.
