Joey Pepper: Skateboarder turned carpenter

  • Text by HUCK HQ
Wake & Make — Skater-turned-woodcrafter Joey Pepper constructs a beautiful hand built canoe in his dusty workshop in Brooklyn, NYC.

“Everything’s about the process,” says Joey Pepper from his Brooklyn workshop. “It’s not just instant results.”

For the skater-turned-craftsman, working with wood is just like skateboarding: you learn by doing, trying over and over again till you get it right.

Huck caught up with Joey as he put his woodworking skills to the test on his dream project, a beautiful hand built wooden canoe.
