Wisdom from pioneering skate documentarian Craig R. Stecyk III

  • Text by HUCK HQ
Exploration Of The Soul — Knowledge and insight from the high prophet of skate culture.

By documenting the pioneering and notorious Zephyr boys as they invented vert skating in the empty swimming pools of Southern California, Craig R. Stecyk III became an icon himself.

An artist, photographer and all-round unique soul, Stecyk has left his fingerprints all over the culture and its history like few others.

To gain a deeper understanding of skateboarding’s roots, Desillusion editor Sebastien Zanella joined Stecyk in Los Angeles. The product of that meeting – and Stecyk’s prophetic insight – are this black & white short film Exploration Of The Soul and the article ‘While Nervous’ in Desillusion Magazine 49.
