Slackers are about as far away from the world of high end fashion as you can possibly imagine. Could you picture Kurt Cobain at a runway show? No, didn’t think so.
But with his baggy jumpers and ripped jeans, Cobain changed how a generation of kids raised on grunge dressed and his influence has even trickled back to the catwalk. With his ‘what feels good, looks good’ vibe, he unintentionally became a fashion icon.
Cobain wasn’t the first slacker to influence fashion, and he’s definitely not the last.
On a lazy Sunday in Oslo in 2007, OnePiece was founded around an appreciation for the art of slacking. The fledgling Norwegian brand married a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants with a giant zipper to create the OnePiece Jumpsuit. Their innovation kicked of what can only be described as the “onesie phenomenon”, which again changed how a generation dresses and also ended up on the catwalk.
To see off the imitators, OnePiece have attempted to raise the bar and retain the slacker style crown with their new Spring/Summer 2015 collection, which is inspired by travelling, parties and stories from life on the road.
